Sherri has been going to Mysore to study with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and his grandson Sharath Rangaswamy for 6 years continuously. And she is the only person from China mainland, to be permitted to practice the intermediate series by Sharath.
Sherri also continues her study of other kinds of Yoga such as Iyengar, Anusara and Flow. She is the first Yoga teacher from China Mainland to attend the Anusara teacher’s training with founder John Friend.
In April, 2007 Sherri went to Goa to study Ashtanga with John Scott. Sherri has attended John Scott ’s workshop for three times since, and she is John’s assistant and translator at his workshops in mainland China .
Chuck Miller& Maty Ezraty are Sherri’s most respectable teachers. In spring 2010 Fine Yoga and Sherri hosted Chuck & Maty during their first visit to mainland China ever. They presented their Universal Yoga Principles course.

Sherri started Hatha Yoga in 2000.  Since 2002, she has been doing her daily intensive Ashtanga practice and every year Sherri Rao spends several months in Pattabhi Jois's yoga shala in Mysore in order to develop her personal practice as well as her teaching skills. Sherri also attends teacher trainings, retreats and classes with other world renowned teachers on a continuing basis.

Sherri did not have any physical sports- or dancing background before Yoga practice and she encourages students to start Yoga regardless of age and physical conditions, and to practice with compassion and discipline. Ultimately opening the heart to enjoy the inner peace Yoga can bring upon.

In 2005, she took over the only Ashtanga Yoga centre in Beijing from her English Yoga teacher. The first name of the school was BeijingYOGA which a bit later was changed into Fine Yoga (www.FineYoga.com).

While teaching and operating the present two diverse Yoga studios she continues her 2hours daily practice. Because of her good English she can study various Yoga styles from many different teachers as well as reading a multitude of books on various Yoga related subjects. She feels the pleasure of improvement and shares her joyfulness by teaching. She is grateful and passionate towards Yoga, as Yoga brings increased value and happiness to her life. With her deep understanding of Yoga and her good expressing ability, you will find her classes lively and helpful.

Sherri’s students come to practice at Fine Yoga from all over the world and all enjoy the classes tremendously. Sherri is also the main teacher for Fine Yoga’s Yoga Alliance (www.YogaAlliance.org) certified Yoga Teacher Training. She is teaching from her experience in a direct and effective way which enables her students to improve their level of practice and teaching greatly during the duration of the course.

 In the summer of 2002, Sherri attended a
Ashtanga workshop retreat in Denmark,
given by the world renowned Ashtanga
Yoga instructor Lino Miele.
